Laser scar treatment significantly improves skin texture, reduces acne marks and smooths fine lines. Two complementary technologies can be used depending on the skin’s needs:
ORIGIN laser (non-ablative fractional Erbium Glass CO₂) and ablative fractional CO₂ laser. Both lasers strongly stimulate collagen production, allowing deep regeneration and a natural, lasting result.
ORIGIN laser – non-ablative fractional (Erbium Glass 1550 nm)
ORIGIN laser acts beneath the skin surface by stimulating collagen production, without visible abrasion. It is suitable for all phototypes and provides a clear improvement from the first session. It is particularly indicated for:
- 01
acne scars,
- 02
stretch marks,
- 03
enlarged pores,
- 04
dull complexion,
- 05
fine lines (cheeks, eye contour, upper lip).
The treatment is non-invasive. An anaesthetic cream is applied before the session, then a mild sensation of heat may be felt. After the session, slight swelling, redness or fine peeling may appear for a few days, without social downtime. Make-up is allowed quickly.
In general, 2 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart are recommended. An annual maintenance session helps maintain the result. The effects continue in the following months thanks to gradual collagen regeneration.
Ablative fractional CO₂ laser – deep tissue remodelling
CO₂ laser emits energy targeting intracellular water. It vaporises very fine columns of skin while preserving intact areas, which speeds healing.
It is ideal for:
- 01
deep or old scars,
- 02
marked wrinkles,
- 03
skin roughness,
- 04
some age spots,
- 05
moderate to severe acne scars.
Downtime depends on the power used:
- Light treatment: redness and peeling skin for 3 to 7 days.
- Deeper treatment: redness, swelling and scabs that may last up to 10 to 14 days.
Sessions last from a few minutes to 40 minutes depending on the area, and 2 to 3 sessions spaced 2 to 3 months apart may be needed.
After the session: healing cream, gentle cleansing, make-up from day 5, strict sun protection (SPF50+) once scabs have gone. A depigmenting cream is often prescribed to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Results and durability
Both techniques allow deep skin remodelling through collagen stimulation. Results are:
- 01
gradual but visible from the first session,
- 02
natural,
- 03
lasting (improvement for up to 6 months),
- 04
optimised with annual maintenance.
Main contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Recent tanning or self-tanner
- Photosensitising medication
- Photosensitising diseases (e.g. lupus)
- Active dermatosis (eczema, psoriasis, rosacea…)
- Conditions with scarring risk (keloids, uncontrolled diabetes…)
- Active herpetic infection
- Very dark skin (ablative CO₂ contraindicated)
- Isotretinoin use
- Sun exposure < 4 weeks
In short: two lasers, one promise
ORIGIN (non-ablative): ideal for mild to moderate scars, pores, fine lines, stretch marks; short downtime, no social downtime.
Ablative fractional CO₂: suited to deep scars and marked wrinkles; very powerful results but longer downtime.
These treatments renovate the skin in depth, smooth scars and restore a more even, firmer and more luminous texture.
