Laser hair removal in Waterloo – lasting, effective & comfortable
Laser hair removal is today the most reliable method for a lasting reduction in hair. The laser beam targets the melanin in the hair: this energy turns into heat and gradually destroys the hair follicle. The treatment is particularly effective on dark hairs in the growth phase, and also helps reduce ingrown hairs.
Treated areas & effectiveness
All areas of the body and face can be treated, except the eyebrows.
A full protocol needs on average 6 sessions, spread over 12 to 18 months, to achieve a lasting 80 to 90% reduction in hair.
Over the sessions:
- 01
Hairs become finer,
- 02
Sparser,
- 03
grow back more slowly,
- 04
And more and more scattered
Laser settings are adjusted according to skin and hair type to guarantee effectiveness and safety.
How does a session unfold?
A prior consultation explains the protocol, checks contraindications and establishes an adapted treatment plan.
The area is prepared according to the recommendations given before the session.
Candide has the brand-new SUBLIM (DELEO) laser with a cool air jet for optimal comfort and pain-free treatment.

Your questions, our answers
Which areas can be treated?
All areas can be treated except the eyebrows.
How to remove hair between sessions?
You may shave the treated area (but do not pull the hair with an epilator, wax or tweezers). After a session, you will see no hair grow for at least 5 weeks.
What will regrowth be like between laser sessions?
From session to session, hairs will grow back finer and sparser (visible from the first session).
How many sessions are needed?
On average, 6 sessions over 12 months (i.e. 1 session every 6 to 8 weeks) to obtain long-term elimination of 80 to 90% of hairs.
Is the laser hair removal session painful?
No, the Sublim laser has a cold air jet for maximum comfort.
Is hair removal permanent? Are maintenance sessions needed?
The first hair-removal lasers and intense pulsed lights appeared 30 years ago. There is therefore enough follow-up to confirm that hair removal is indeed permanent. Maintenance sessions are needed in cases of hormonal disorders, provided the problem is stabilised under treatment.
Who is laser hair removal for?
Laser hair removal is for men as well as women. It can be considered from age 17 in particular cases, with parental consent. If this applies to you, you may consider laser hair removal:
People with dark hair and fair skin. The contrast between dark hair and fair skin allows the laser to target hair pigment effectively.
People with folliculitis. If you have ingrown hairs or inflammation of the hair follicles, you may find relief with laser hair removal.
People looking for a lasting solution. If you want to reduce the frequency of hair removal or shaving and thus save time and effort.
Athletes. Are you sporty? You may prefer laser hair removal for performance and hygiene reasons.
People with excessive hair (hirsutism). People with hirsutism may use laser hair removal to manage excessive hair due to hormonal conditions.
How long does a laser hair removal session last? What precautions after treatment?
A session lasts between 10 minutes and 1 hour depending on the body area and the surface to treat.
Hydrate and soothe your skin. After a laser session, the skin may be sensitive and slightly irritated. Apply a moisturising or soothing cream to reduce inflammation and hydrate the skin. Avoid products containing fragrances or irritating agents.
Avoid sun exposure. Laser-treated skin is more vulnerable to UV rays. Avoid direct sun for at least 1 month after the session. If you have no choice, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high protection factor (SPF 50 or more) and wear covering clothes. This helps prevent pigment spots and irritation.
Avoid heat sources and irritating activities. For 24 hours after the session, avoid heat sources such as hot baths and saunas. Also refrain from activities that cause excessive sweating, such as intense sport. Heat and sweat can irritate treated skin and increase the risk of complications.
If you have further questions, you can of course ask them at your appointment. Can a session be done during pregnancy?
This is not recommended. The skin is particularly sensitive.
